The warehouse department at Tecsystem: offices and logistics
Mattia Giacalone has been with Tecsystem since 2019, "exactly since April 15, my birthday! - It was fate, I immediately thought!"
On the day of the interview, I was welcomed by Elisabetta Conca and Sonia Marani. With them was Fabio Biasin, who - with immense sorrow from all of us - recently left us ...
Fabio has been the soul of this department for many years and a mentor for many people within the company, including myself ....
My first role was as a warehouse operator, I was in charge of goods handling for a couple of years and then I started working side by side with Marianna Pupillo, who was in charge of the documentation part, and over time I took over some of her tasks."
How is the team in the logistics area made up today?
In the office, in addition to Marianna, who is in charge of EXTRA-EU shipments, and me, responsible for the warehouse, Luca Sandi deals with documentation for Italy and the EU and the operational coordination of: Giovanni Carrino, Andrea Fogli and Andrea Colli - who joined the ‘TECSYSTEM family’ very recently.
Has your working method changed over the years?
Procedures have evolved a lot, especially from the point of view of archiving: today we can consult and find documents completely digitally, which allows us greater speed and accuracy.
Shipments have also improved with computerisation: proofs of delivery are automatically archived in our management system, guaranteeing perfect traceability.
Is there an episode that has made you particularly proud of your work?
My greatest satisfaction to date has been receiving the role of warehouse manager: it was a big sign of esteem and trust.
I must say that I owe a lot of my competence to Marianna, who immediately welcomed me and involved me in her activities, teaching me method and precision. But this is precisely what distinguishes Tecsystem and the working atmosphere in each department.
In ours, for example, there is always music
Marianna also tells a story of hospitality and proactivity, which began as far back as 2005
'I mainly take care of the documentation and certificates for Extra-EU shipments, but back in 2005 I joined Tecsystem as a receptionist, which I was very nervous about due to my shyness, but with the passing of time I have learnt to control and improve. Especially with non-European shipments, there are constant changes in customs regulations, so I have to keep myself constantly updated and informed in order to always be able to guarantee the best. Our growth as a department will continue in this direction: more and more computerisation and specialisation!’
